May 19th: CW Boss Defends Benching Originals, Touts Next Fall’s ‘Biggest Ever’ Superhero Crossover Event

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Season 4, The Originals, TV Series | Comments Off on CW Boss Defends Benching Originals, Touts Next Fall’s ‘Biggest Ever’ Superhero Crossover Event

The Originals failed to secure a spot on The CW’s fall schedule, but there’s no need administer last rites to the Vampire Diaries spinoff.

In a conference call on Thursday morning, network president Mark Pedowitz spoke of his decision to hold the show until midseason, telling reporters, “We have a very strong schedule. We still believe quite a bit in The Originals. We only have 10 hours, so we made a choice to [hold it] to further boost our schedule at midseason.”

Pedowitz also shot down speculation that Vampire Diaries upcoming eighth season would be its last. “No decision has been made one way or the other,” he maintained, before adding, “My dream is it isn’t [the final season].

Apr 8th: 5 times Nina Dobrev deserved an Emmy on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Jen | Categories: Elena Gilbert, Nina Dobrev, Season 2, Season 4, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on 5 times Nina Dobrev deserved an Emmy on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

By this point, everyone in the galaxy has heard the news: Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries. We have to say we aren’t that surprised, but nonetheless—we are heartbroken. The Vampire Diaries was one of the first shows that inspired us to start blogging, and it was one of the first to show us that it’s okay to be slightly obsessed with a show to the point where you binge-watch your favorite episodes weekly until 4 a.m. (season-three marathon, anyone?)

While it’s tough to say goodbye, we want to honor some of Nina Dobrev’s best scenes from the show. After the Jane the Virgin Golden Globe win, no one can argue that the following scenes from the hit CW show aren’t Emmy-worthy. Grab your tissues and box(es) of wine—it’s about to get real.

Jan 23rd: ‘The Vampire Diaries’: What’s the most memorable death from season 4? — POLL

Jen | Categories: Season 4, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on ‘The Vampire Diaries’: What’s the most memorable death from season 4? — POLL

The Vampire Diaries‘ upcoming 100th episode centers on our favorite evil vixen in what could be her final moments. After Katherine Pierce had a heart attack and fell down the Salvatores’ stairs in the mid-season finale, we’re scared that it might finally be time to say goodbye to the woman who once loved both Salvatore brothers but never loved anyone more than herself. So to honor what could potentially be the most memorable death (or near-death) scene in season 5, we’re reliving similar moments from the past four seasons.

Now, in our final day, join me and my fellow TVD-lover Mandi Bierly as we complete our walk down a tear-filled memory lane and pick out our most memorable death scenes from season 4:

Samantha’s pick:
I’m a little surprised at myself for not picking Jeremy as my most memorable death of season 4. I certainly remember Elena’s breakdown — how amazing was Nina Dobrev in that scene?! — but I think part of the reason why his death doesn’t stand out to me is that, in the moment, I didn’t think there was any way in which it could be real. I didn’t even react when Silas snapped Jeremy’s neck, because I was so used to him dying and coming back. And because of that, my most memorable death was something completely different. It that was so obviously real that it was hard to watch: Kol being staked and burning to death in the Gilbert kitchen.
