Jan 23rd: ‘The Vampire Diaries’: What’s the most memorable death from season 4? — POLL

Jen | Categories: Season 4, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on ‘The Vampire Diaries’: What’s the most memorable death from season 4? — POLL

The Vampire Diaries‘ upcoming 100th episode centers on our favorite evil vixen in what could be her final moments. After Katherine Pierce had a heart attack and fell down the Salvatores’ stairs in the mid-season finale, we’re scared that it might finally be time to say goodbye to the woman who once loved both Salvatore brothers but never loved anyone more than herself. So to honor what could potentially be the most memorable death (or near-death) scene in season 5, we’re reliving similar moments from the past four seasons.

Now, in our final day, join me and my fellow TVD-lover Mandi Bierly as we complete our walk down a tear-filled memory lane and pick out our most memorable death scenes from season 4:

Samantha’s pick:
I’m a little surprised at myself for not picking Jeremy as my most memorable death of season 4. I certainly remember Elena’s breakdown — how amazing was Nina Dobrev in that scene?! — but I think part of the reason why his death doesn’t stand out to me is that, in the moment, I didn’t think there was any way in which it could be real. I didn’t even react when Silas snapped Jeremy’s neck, because I was so used to him dying and coming back. And because of that, my most memorable death was something completely different. It that was so obviously real that it was hard to watch: Kol being staked and burning to death in the Gilbert kitchen.

Jan 23rd: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ hits 100 episodes: Which was your favorite?

Jen | Categories: The Vampire Diaries, TV Series, TVD 100th Episode | Comments Off on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ hits 100 episodes: Which was your favorite?

After months of waiting and speculating, the long hiatus is finally over: “The Vampire Diaries” 100th episode airs on Thursday (Jan. 23).

The milestone episode is practically bursting with huge reveals, shocking twists, OMG moments and heartbreakingly nostalgic throwbacks, making it one of the best episodes of the series so far. It may not be a perfect episode, but with all the moments packed in for the fans, it comes pretty close.

After watching the episode, “500 Years of Solitude,” we got to thinking … if we had to pick our Top 10 favorite episodes of The CW’s supernatural drama, which ones would make the list?

It was a tough undertaking, but we finally culled down our list of favorites to 10 (in chronological order of when they aired):

Season 1 episode 6 – “Lost Girls”

Every new series suffers through some growing pains as it finds its footing, and this was the episode that really launched “TVD” into the show it is today. Stefan finally tells Elena the truth about him and Damon being vampires, and reveals his past with Katherine. You know what that means: The very first flashbacks of the series! It was also the first time we met Katherine, who would go on to become one of the series’ most important characters. This episode is when the show finally took off its training wheels.

Join me and my fellow TVD-lover Mandi Bierly as we walk down a tear-filled memory lane and pick out our most memorable death scenes leading up to the show’s return. Today, we move to season 3, which kicked off with Stefan killing many a stranger — and poor Andie — before the Originals returned to Mystic Falls, bringing with them a number of transformations (Tyler!) and even more deaths (Elena!). Here are the moments we’ll never forget:

Samantha’s pick:
Of all the deaths in TVD history, there was one that made me sob a little harder than the rest — Alaric. Not only did I love Alaric as a character, but the way in which the show handled his death in “Do Not Go Gentle” gives me chills just thinking about it. Right in the middle of one of Mystic Falls High School’s famous decade dances, Esther stole Elena away. She was cooking up a plan that would allow her to use Elena’s blood in a spell that would turn Alaric into the ultimate Original vampire hunter. At the cemetery, she and evil Alaric set things in motion. Alaric drank the necessary blood, and then Esther killed him. Luckily, when he woke up, he was back to his normal self, so instead of hurting Elena, he killed Ester. But then the reality of it all set it: He could either transition into what Esther wanted him to be, or he could choose to die.

Join me and my fellow TVD-lover Mandi Bierly as we walk down a tear-filled memory lane and pick out our most memorable death scenes leading up to the show’s return. Today, we pick things up with season 2. And as avid fans of the show know, season 2 started killing people as early as episode 1. From Damon snapping Jeremy’s neck to Katherine’s decision to smother Caroline with a pillow, season 2 was full of near-deaths, actual deaths, and the TVD specialty, the resurrection. But here are the moments that have stuck with us the most:

Samantha’s pick:
For me, the thing that jumps out the most about season 2 — other than meeting Elijah — is Klaus’ big sacrifice ritual. The biggest, baddest vampire in the history of time was about to become the biggest, baddest hybrid in the history of time, and we all knew that it wasn’t going to be a drama-free event. For starters, in order to complete the ritual, Klaus had to kill Elena. But believe it or not, it wasn’t Elena’s death that put me so on edge. I was confident the show’s main character wouldn’t actually die, which is why the ritual’s most memorable death for me was Aunt Jenna.

No one saw it coming: Klaus decided to turn Jenna into a vampire solely so that he could use her in the ritual. It was ruthless and cruel and completely unexpected. And as if it wasn’t enough to lose Jenna, my favorite snarky parental figure, we were forced to watch Elena lose Jenna. In Jenna’s final moments before Klaus staked her, Elena told her to, “Turn it off. You won’t be scared anymore.” Oh my God, I’m crying just thinking about the poor teenager trying to comfort yet another parent that she’s losing.

The Vampire Diaries‘ upcoming 100th episode centers around our favorite evil vixen in what could be her final moments. After Katherine Pierce had a heart attack and fell down the Salvatore’s stairs in the mid-season finale, we’re scared that it might finally be time to say goodbye to the woman who once loved both Salvatore brothers but never loved anyone more than herself. So to honor what could potentially be the most memorable death (or near-death) scene in season 5, we’re reliving similar moments from the past four seasons.

Join me and my fellow TVD-lover Mandi Bierly for the next four days as we walk down a tear-filled memory lane and pick out our most memorable death scenes leading up to the show’s return. Today, we kick things off with season 1.

Samantha’s pick:
To this day, Lexi Branson (Arielle Kebbel) is one of my favorite people to ever enter Mystic Falls. She was strong. She was feisty. And she was a good friend. Not only did she help Stefan through his Ripper days, but she also took him to Bon Jovi concerts. She was confident, and sexy, and so freakin’ wise. So you can imagine my anger when Damon killed her almost immediately upon her arrival in season 1 — and on Stefan’s birthday, no less. Yep, we’re taking a trip back to the days of bad, bad Damon.

I’m sure most of you remember the story: Sheriff Forbes and The Founders’ Council were on the lookout for vampires, which meant Damon and Stefan needed to lead them off their scent. So when Lexi showed up to celebrate the day of Stefan’s birth, Damon decided she was the perfect scapegoat. He staked her in front of Sheriff Forbes in a moment that stopped my heart. I was mad that she didn’t see it coming — she had hundreds of years on that punk Damon! — while also being mad at Damon, all while my heart was weeping for Stefan. It was a very complicated time for me as a viewer, which is why it goes down as my most memorable death of season 1. And in case you were wondering, no, I’m still not over it.
