According to Nina Dobrev, leaving The Vampire Diaries was all a part of her plan.

The 28-year-old star, who emigrated to Toronto from Bulgaria when she was merely a toddler, rose to national fame when she landed the role of Elena Gilbert in CW’s hit series in 2009. Fast forward six years later, the actress surprised fans when she did not sign on for season 7 and the series lost a longtime and beloved main character. Reflecting on that time today, Dobrev maintains that the exit was her choice.

The first trailer for Sony’s Flatliners remake previews a handful of heart-stopping moments.

Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons play medical students who, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: stopping their hearts for short periods of time. Each triggers a near-death experience, giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are haunted by the sins of their past, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
The original 1990 thriller starred Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland, who also appear in the reboot.

Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the original Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, directs from a script by Ben Ripley with a story by Peter Filardi. Laurence Mark, Michael Douglas, and Peter Safran produced the Columbia Pictures title, in association with Cross Creek Pictures and LStar Capital.

Flatliners hits theaters Sept. 29.

If you thought Nina Dobrev‘s last TV love triangle was messy, just wait until you see what she gets up to with the Workaholics.

The Vampire Diaries star appears in Wednesday’s episode of the Comedy Central series (10/9c) as part of a gloriously accurate parody of a syndicated ’90s dating show, and TVLine has an exclusive first look at all the awkward action to come.

Needless to say, all three guys make spectacularly bad first impressions with Dobrev’s Courtnee: Anders checks her wingspan to see if she’s tall enough to breed Olympic champions; Blake asks if she wants to be the hundredth girl to “ride-o my bone-o”; and Adam seems to be more interested in Skyler, the fourth competitor (and the guys’ old roommate, apparently).

Vampire Diaries: Nina Dobrev wraps filming, says her ‘true final’ goodbye

Author: Jen | February 7, 2017 | Comments Off on Vampire Diaries: Nina Dobrev wraps filming, says her ‘true final’ goodbye

Less than a month after it was confirmed that Nina Dobrev would return for the Vampire Diaries series finale, the actress has said goodbye to the many characters that made up her time in Mystic Falls. Dobrev wrapped filming on the show’s final hour on Monday, after which she took to Instagram to bid farewell to the show that began eight years ago as the story of two brothers who fell in love with the same girl.

Dobrev, who’s no stranger to saying goodbye to the show considering she left at the end of season 6, clarified that this is her “true final goodbye.” She writes, “Coming back for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears or joy and bittersweet endings. It feels like the beautiful closure we all needed, myself included, and I couldn’t have been happier to come home to be with my TVD set family and friends.”

NINA DOBREV: ON ACTING AND GROWING UP

Author: Jen | February 1, 2017 | Comments Off on NINA DOBREV: ON ACTING AND GROWING UP

Filed Under: | Interviews, Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev is just off a long-haul flight from Rio. She seems a bit jetlagged and more than a little hoarse after a whirlwind tour of Brazil to promote xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the blockbuster film that opened worldwide last month. She has a brief respite in LA before resuming the globetrotting publicity tour in Latin America, Europe and Asia.

It wasn’t all hard work in Brazil. There was time for paragliding, a helicopter tour and a brief frolic on the beach (wearing the national soccer team jersey of Neymar, who also stars in the film). But for the most part, it’s all work and very little play for Dobrev these days. Since departing from her hit television series The Vampire Diaries in 2015, life has been dominated by on-location movie shoots, appearances at charity galas and awards shows, magazine features and seemingly non-stop marketing to promote her upcoming films. She may not be the hardest-working person in Hollywood these days, but Dobrev has to be somewhere near the top of the chart.
