Oct 27th: Orlando’s Candice Accola enjoys being a girl vampire

Michelle | Categories: Candice Accola, Season 2 | Comments Off on Orlando’s Candice Accola enjoys being a girl vampire

Orlando native Candice Accola is savoring a new challenge in the second season of “The Vampire Diaries.” Her character, Caroline, has become a blood-sucker, and Accola is thrilled by the acting opportunities. The next episode, set at a masquerade ball, airs at 8 p.m. Thursday on WKCF-Ch. 18. It’s the seventh episode to be broadcast this season, and the cast is working on the 10th. I talked to Accola, a Lake Highland Prep alum, earlier this week.

Q. What was your reaction when producers said they wanted to make Caroline a vampire?

A. I got a wonderful phone call from [series creator] Kevin Williamson to prep me for the second season. He wanted to reiterate that I would go from dead to the undead. That was slightly comforting. Character-wise, it’s so exciting. In television characters often stay in a similar category. It’s fun to play something that’s completely different. Kevin prepped me that I was going to change. On this show, nobody is safe, it’s a vampire show. There will be characters who will die.

Q. Is it more fun to be a vampire than a human?

A. Oh, yeah. It’s a blast. Having the opportunity to get comfortable with a new character, I’m glad I had time to ease into becoming a vampire. I feel like I’ve learned and grown so much as actor in the past year and a half. Now I get to put on fangs and pretend to bite people and kick boys’ butts. There’s been a lot of stunt work.

Q. How is playing Caroline’s relationship with her mom, who hates vampires?

A.  The writers do such a wonderful job. They keep it relatable. It’s essentially a supernatural show, but in your teen years, there are times you feel your mom won’t understand you. The teenage years are hard for a mother and daughter. I have a great relationship with my mom, but I found it would be a relatable scenario for teen girls watching.

Oct 22nd: Taylor Kinney Talks Mason, Tattoos and His Man Crush

Linda | Categories: Season 2, TV Series | Comments Off on Taylor Kinney Talks Mason, Tattoos and His Man Crush

In last night’s episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” we said goodbye to one of my favorite new characters, Mason Lockwood (Taylor Kinney). After seeing Mason literally get his heart ripped out, I was eager to talk to Kinney and take a look back at his time in Mystic Falls.

We chatted about everything from Mason’s trust issues with Katherine to Kinney’s tattoos… and he filled me in on one of his favorite childhood games. Let’s just say that Kinney has always had the wild imagination that makes him so fun to watch on screen.

Zap2it: Even though Mason was on Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) side, he maintained a bit of sympathy right down to the bitter end. Would you classify him as a good guy or a bad guy?

Taylor Kinney: Especially on this show, the lines are so blurry. There’s no definitive line between who’s good and who’s bad; everyone’s capable of some pretty wild stuff, across the board. Every character is in the gray. You look at Jeremy last season, his desire to become a vampire, I mean, there was some shady stuff there. And then Damon is this evil character, this antagonist, but deep down, he doesn’t think he’s a bad guy. He does things to benefit himself, to benefit his brother, and to survive. He justifies things that way.

It’s the same thing with Mason. He loved Katherine. He still had walls up, he didn’t trust her. He threw the moonstone down that well full of vervain, so there were walls up, and then he was doing shady stuff on the side. At the end of the day, he wasn’t being bad, but I don’t think he was a good guy, either.

Oct 20th: KTLA Interview: Paul Wesley Talks Fans, Phantom, and Free Stuff

Linda | Categories: Exclusive, Paul Wesley, Season 2, TV Series, Videos | Comments Off on KTLA Interview: Paul Wesley Talks Fans, Phantom, and Free Stuff

We’re accustomed to Paul Wesley being brooding and serious on “The Vampire Diaries,” so it was nice to see the lighter side of Wesley when he stopped by the KTLA Morning Show on Wednesday (Oct. 20). He hesitantly confessed that he’d once played “The Phantom of the Opera” — but of course, he only admitted it because somewhere out there, there’s footage.

“I was like, in third grade, and I had this mask, but the mask was made for an adult and it kept falling off,” he says. “I was trying to be a serious phantom!” Co-star Nina Dobrev’s recent appearance on the morning show was brought up, where she mentioned that producers call an actor to warn them in advance before a character is killed off. “Little does she know, she’s getting the boot!” Wesley joked. “Hopefully I won’t be in that situation.”?

Oct 19th: Paul Wesley Opens Up in Seventeen Magazine Interview

Linda | Categories: Paul Wesley | Comments Off on Paul Wesley Opens Up in Seventeen Magazine Interview

The Vampire Diaries’ Paul Wesley opens up about what makes him cry and what he really thinks of Robert Pattinson!

How old were you when you had your first kiss?

I was nine years old and I was in a swimming pool. There was a girl there, and she dared me or I dared her into kissing me underwater. That wasn’t a French kiss — that was like a “muah” kiss.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Monica Bellucci. I love watching her films, and I think she’s super sexy.

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?

Woody Allen. I’m pretty neurotic. Robert Pattinson is like the last person I want to be compared with. I think any girl would throw me under a bus to be within five feet of Robert Pattinson. I actually think he’s an attractive guy. And I watched most of Twilight, and I think he was really intriguing.

Oct 13th: Interview: Ian Somerhalder Talks Damon, True Blood, Vampires

Linda | Categories: Season 2, TV Series | Comments Off on Interview: Ian Somerhalder Talks Damon, True Blood, Vampires

Entertainment Tonight interviewed Ian Somerhalder about his role as Damon Salvatore, True Blood, and vampires.

His piercing blue eyes are one of the first things you notice about Ian Somerhalder, who was one of the first characters to be killed off of “Lost.” Now he is back from the dead — actually, he is undead — with his role as bad-boy vampire Damon Salvatore, who steams up the action on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.” ET chats with the Louisiana-born actor to get his take on sinking his teeth into his role.

ET: Are you a fan of the whole vampire craze?

Ian Somerhalder: I am from New Orleans, so I grew up with Anne Rice. From a very young age, I knew a lot about vampires and always wanted to play one.

ET: How did you prepare for playing a vampire?

Ian Somerhalder: I don’t like blood. Blood freaks me out a little bit. So when you think about being hungry, for example, think of a time when you are stuck on a plane, or wherever you were that you didn’t have food, or you see people starving in the world, think about how intense that is. Imagine being a vampire and having 160 years of life experience — knowledge of humanity, of life and death, of everything — then on top of that your senses are heightened by 1000 percent. All of the things you hear, you have to learn to block out, and your sense of needing to eat is constant and 1000 times more than we have. It is a very intense proposition, so trying to inhabit someone who has that much knowledge of the world … it is a feat. I hope I am doing it right.

ET: How is your vampire different than other vampires?

Ian Somerhalder: [jokes] I do whatever I want. I go in the sun. I want [executive producer] Kevin [Williamson] to write an episode that sends Damon to the Caribbean.

Oct 5th: Nina Dobrev Talks “Vampire Diaries”

Michelle | Categories: Nina Dobrev | 1 Comment

Actress Nina Dobrev says that last season her character of Elana was willing to give Damon, played by Ian Somerholder a chance.

“The thing is, he wormed his way into her heart all last season,” she tells the New York Post “When no-one understood him or attempted to be his friend, she did because she wanted to see the good in him. And he proved that he is not worthy of it. She gave him everything he could possibly ask for and he killed her brother. At this point, she wants nothing to do with him. There’s no redeeming quality that she can see… aside from the fact he’s attractive.”

And she says that as the second season continues to unfold that Damon may begin to re-evaluate his feelings for Elena.

It’s going to be interesting to see how he tries to remedy the situation because once he lost Elena, I think he realised how valuable she is to him,” she said. “How much he loves her. It’s that classic tale – with any relationship, you have to hit rock bottom to realize how good you had it in the first place and Damon’s definitely going through that.”

Dobrev also revealed that she is “entertained by the possibility” of Damon and Elena beginning a romance, saying: “I think that Elena with Stefan seems to be a constant struggle. Elena and Damon have fun together. It’s fun to watch them together because they do have a rapport in the way they play. There’s an ease there because Elena doesn’t care what he thinks – Damon on the other hand is on his toes all the time trying to make sure he doesn’t screw it up even more.”
