Feb 9th: The Vampire Diaries:’ Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec weigh in on Caroline and Stefan shippers

If you’ve seen the exclusive pictures we posted from tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, then you know that we’re in for a heavy dose of romantic tension between Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev), and Stefan (Paul Wesley), as well as Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

But when I spoke to executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson for this week’s cover story (be honest, how many times have you ogled the images?), I couldn’t help but ask them about another potential pairing: Stefan and Caroline.

I know what you’re thinking. The two of them have barely shared any screen time since season 2, when Stefan helped Caroline adjust to being a vampire. But when they did, it was so good. Turns out, I’m not the only one who noticed. Williamson revealed he’s well aware of the chemistry between the two characters and he’d like to see their relationship evolve. ”We touched on that in the second season a little bit. We always know it’s there, and if anything, I yearn to see some more moments between them as friends,” says Williamson, who also points out that Caroline has chemistry with practically every guy in Mystic Falls. “There’s a lot of shipping to do for her.” Tell me about it.

For Plec, Caroline’s relationship with Stefan is reminiscent of his friendship with Lexie (Arielle Kebbel), the vampire who helped him find his humanity throughout the years, until she was eventually killed by Damon. ”We’ve always said that Caroline — even if we don’t play it on the forefront, but in the life of the series — is Lexie,” explains Plec. “It’s only a matter of time before that friendship is allowed to grow and be fostered.”

‘THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’: TYLER-KLAUS SHOWDOWN COMING?
Poor, Tyler. Not only is he likely losing his one-time girlfriend to the man who has made his life a living hell, but now he has to put himself through excruciating pain in order to break the sire bond? Well, ain’t all that a kick to the nuggets? Luckily, Michael Trevino told EW when we caught up with him on Wednesday that he’s holding out for some retribution for Tyler. “Those Brits need to go,” he jokes. “I would like a showdown. I know Julie would write something epic.”….

Hi Sandra! I’ve been reading a lot online recently about a new character coming to The Vampire Diaries, Samantha Gilbert, and that she’s supposedly a new love interest for Damon?? As a hardcore Delena shipper, please SAY IT ISN’T SO!!! — Sophie
It isn’t so. “She’s not for Damon,” EP Julie Plec assures. “We’ll meet her in the past, not the present. She’s somebody that we meet in not present-day Mystic Falls.” All better, Soph?

I am dying over these Vampire Diaries photos right now and don’t know what to think, especially Caroline and Klaus. I need scoop immediately anything on #TVD. — @Gval21
You should be dying — of excitement. Because as hinted in last night’s episode — and teased to Spoiler Room by Julie Plec — it’s on. “I have a feeling …….

Anything about TVD‘s Stefan/Katherine? Thanks! — Rose
Though she’s currently on the down low, I’d expect to see Katherine very soon. “She’s gone underground, and so it will be a surprise when we see Katherine again. ……

Jan 6th: Vampire Diaries’: EP Julie Plec talks tonight’s big [SPOILERS!], and next week’s Damon nudity and Stefan-Elena drama

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Julie Plec, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | 1 Comment

If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, stop reading now. We talked to exec producer Julie Plec about the moments that have fans buzzing…

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The kiss! Why was the time finally right for Damon and Elena to share a kiss that doesn’t involve her actually being Katherine or him dying?
JULIE PLEC:
We’ve been building to it all season, and believe it or not, we actually thought that we would get there by the end of the ninth episode. And then when we got there [to the end of November’s midseason finale], it didn’t feel right. It felt like it wasn’t ready to happen yet. And so, even though god knows who’s gonna have tuned in tonight [Laughs], it finally felt right by the time we got to the end of tonight’s story. It felt like their relationship had evolved to the point where it wasn’t something that Elena would necessarily fight off, or push away, or reject, or even regret.

Jan 5th: ‘Vampire Diaries’: First look at Bonnie’s mother, Abby Bennett — EXCLUSIVE

Jen | Categories: Photos, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’: First look at Bonnie’s mother, Abby Bennett — EXCLUSIVE

The Vampire Diaries returns with its first episode of 2012 tonight (The CW, 8 p.m. ET), but we’re already looking ahead to the Jan. 19 episode when we meet Abby Bennett (recurring guest star Persia White), estranged mother of Bonnie (Kat Graham). ”There’s going to be some unanswered questions that Bonnie’s gonna have: Why did you leave me, or why did you disappear? What made you disappear? Where did you go? Why were you not in my life?” Graham says. “A lot of those questions will get answered and you will find out where her mom’s heart is and why she has to come back into Bonnie’s life. And that whole thing will surprise you, too, because it’s not what people think.”

“There’s gonna be a lot of really uncomfortable but ultimately rich mother-daughter stuff,” TVD exec producer Julie Plec teases. “With our witches, we’re always telling the story of how being a witch comes with its own set of life complications. You’re always getting yourself caught in the middle of the other supernaturals’ business. Bonnie’s mom Abby is a walking example of that.”

So, too, is Bonnie, it would seem. In tonight’s return, “Bonnie has to decide whether to work with Stefan,” Graham says. When we last saw him in November, before the show’s two-month hiatus, vampire Stefan (Paul Wesley) had just phoned hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to inform him that he’d stolen the coffins carrying Klaus’ siblings. They’ll enter a standoff: Klaus wants to traumatize Elena (Nina Dobrev) and those she loves so she’ll convince Stefan to return his family; that’s still not on Stefan’s agenda…

Jan 5th: The Vampire Diaries returns: A refresher on where we left off & teases from EP JuliePlec on where we’re headed

Jen | Categories: Julie Plec, Photos, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on The Vampire Diaries returns: A refresher on where we left off & teases from EP JuliePlec on where we’re headed

‘Vampire Diaries’: A Look Back…and Ahead!

Mandi Bierly with a refresher on where we left off with the Mystic Falls crew — and new dish from exec producer Julie Plec on what they’ll face next

KLAUS (JOSEPH MORGAN)

Where we left off:
When Stefan pulled Damon off Klaus, Klaus seized the stake that was meant for him and put it in Mikael, setting him ablaze. With Mikael dead, Klaus was ready to awaken his siblings. One problem: Stefan now has them. And let us not forget, Klaus doesn’t know that Rebekah has learned the truth about what he did to their mother.

Where he’s headed: ”Klaus is also pissed, for sure,” Plec says. ”He spent a long time trying to gather his family and dispose of his father so that his siblings could be reunited and he could seek their forgiveness, and then Stefan swooped in and stole them all. So he’s angry, and he believes that if he reaches out and threatens the people that surround Elena that she will be highly motivated to get Stefan to do what he wants him to do. Elena’s point over the course of the first episode is ‘You created this monster. You created this person who no longer cares what I think or how I feel. This is your problem.’ Klaus has to start rewriting the rules of his own game when he realizes that Stefan isn’t gonna cave for the sake of Elena or for the sake of Damon, that Stefan is in the driver’s seat and calling all the shots. For Klaus, that’s an uncomfortable position, and their standoff has some fun twists and turns to it.”

Nov 10th: Vampire Diaries’: EP Julie Plec, Michael Trevino preview tonight’s midseason finale

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Julie Plec, Michael Trevino, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on Vampire Diaries’: EP Julie Plec, Michael Trevino preview tonight’s midseason finale

“Poor Tyler.” Anytime The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec uses the word “poor” in front of a character’s name, fans know they’re in for a good episode. It usually means bloodshed. “Blood or heartache. One of the two. Sometimes both,” Plec says. What’s in store with tonight’s midseason finale (The CW, 8 p.m. ET), which finds Klaus back in Mystic Falls and Damon, Elena, and Stefan hoping that his abusive father figure Mikael can kill him and free Stefan from being Klaus’ wingman and Elena from being his hybrid-making blood donor? Here are a few more teases from Plec and Michael Trevino (a.k.a. Poor Tyler):

“We open up the episode with Stefan making the call to get Klaus back to town. The way in which he’s able to successfully do that is actually part of the fun of the beginning of the episode,” Plec says. Translation: She will not be telling us? “Precisely,” she says……..
