The Vampire Diaries Executive Producer Julie Plec’s The Tomorrow People Pilot Gets Order From The CW

Author: Jen | January 31, 2013 | Comments Off on The Vampire Diaries Executive Producer Julie Plec’s The Tomorrow People Pilot Gets Order From The CW

Julie Plec is one of the busiest people in Hollywood. Not only does The Vampire Diaries executive producer have a spin-off, The Originals, in the works, The CW just gave the greenlight to Tomorrow People.

Deadline reports the show, a revamp of the cult British 1970s sci-fi series, will be co-produced by Julie and Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti.

Like the ‘70s favorite, the pilot will feature “young people around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution who possess special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with one another telepathically. Together, they work to defeat the forces of evil.”

Greg and Julie have known each other since college and worked on Dawson’s Creek together.

Let’s just hope Julie finds time to sleep!

Daniel Gillies Set As A Lead In ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Spinoff ‘The Originals’

Author: Jen | January 22, 2013 | Comments Off on Daniel Gillies Set As A Lead In ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Spinoff ‘The Originals’

Another Vampire Diaries standout is headed to the potential spinoff series. Daniel Gillies is set to star opposite Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin in The Originals, which will be introduced as an upcoming episode of Vampire Diaries that will air April 25, serving as a potential backdoor pilot. All three are reprising their roles from the original series as the spinoff is keeping the three-lead — two vampire brothers and a girl — formula of Vampire Diaries. The only difference is that the female lead, Hayley (Tonkin), is not an ordinary teenager like Vampire Diaries‘ Elena but a werewolf. In addition to his recurring role on Vampire Diaries, which he has played since Season 2, Canadian-born Gillies also stars on the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope. If The Originals goes to series, he will do both shows.
