Mar 12th: Paul Wesley Talks BEFORE I DISAPPEAR, His First Experience as a Producer, Directing an Episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, and More SXSW

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Non TVD Projects, Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on Paul Wesley Talks BEFORE I DISAPPEAR, His First Experience as a Producer, Directing an Episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, and More SXSW

From writer/director Shawn Christensen, the indie drama Before I Disappear (playing at the SXSW Film Festival) tells the story of Richie (Christensen), a man at the lowest point of his life who gets a call from his estranged sister (Emmy Rossum), asking him to look after his eleven-year old niece (Fatima Ptacek) for a few hours. As the night progresses, Richie finds himself caught in a battle between his two bosses, Bill (Ron Perlman) and Gideon (Paul Wesley), and soon figures out that maybe there is something else to live for.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Paul Wesley, who also served as a first-time producer on the film, talked about how he came to sign on for this project, how gratified he feels about the positive response the film is already getting, how involved he was in stretching the story from a short film (which won an Oscar) and shaping it into a full-length feature, how he also came to be acting in the movie, how different this character is from what he’s known for, how collaborative Shawn Christensen is, as a filmmaker, and how involved he was in the post-production process. He also talked about trying his hand at directing, for the first time, with an episode of his CW series The Vampire Diaries, the experience of directing himself, that he’d like to direct a feature once his time on the show is done, and the type of projects he’s looking for.

Check out what he had to say after the jump.

JEREMY SUMPTER, PHOEBE TONKIN AND SEBASTIAN KOCH GATHER FOR JIM GILLESPIE’S YOUNG ADULT THRILLER “TAKE DOWN”

RADIANT FILMS INTERNATIONAL TO CONTINUE INTERNATIONAL SALES AT EFM IN BERLIN

Berlin – February 6, 2014 – Jeremy Sumpter (‘Peter Pan’, ‘Soul Surfer’, and upcoming ‘Into the Storm’), Phoebe Tonkin (CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries’, ‘The Originals’, and upcoming ‘The Ever After’) and Sebastian Koch (‘A Good Day to Die Hard’, ‘The Lives of Others’) are in talks to star in director Jim Gillespie’s (‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’) young adult thriller TAKE DOWN, which is based on a script by Alexander Ignon (‘Ransom’).

Slated for an April 2014 start date, the film’s producing team is headed up by Ed Elbert, Sarah Ryan Black and Stefan Brunner.

The film is being packaged and produced by Pinewood Pictures, the off-shoot of UK studio group Pinewood Shepperton Plc., whose Steve Christian will executive produce. Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling foreign sales on the project.

Showcasing a young and sexy ensemble cast, TAKE DOWN follows the spoiled offspring of international billionaires, sent to a tough-love school in the remote wilderness by their parents in the hope of shaping them up. When they are taken hostage and held for a billion dollar ransom by a group of clever and well-armed kidnappers, the kids are forced to try to save themselves.

Director Jim Gillespie added: “The qualities every director searches for in their actors are talent, charisma and commitment. I’ve been lucky enough to find all three in Jeremy and Phoebe. Mark my words, these are the stars of tomorrow.”

Sumpter is represented by Innovative Artists, Tonkin is repped by ICM Partners as well as Management 360, Koch by Travistock Wood Management and Die Agenten.

May 11th: Daniel Gillies Talks THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, Writing and Directing His First Feature Film, BROKEN KINGDOM, and More

Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Non TVD Projects, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on Daniel Gillies Talks THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, Writing and Directing His First Feature Film, BROKEN KINGDOM, and More

Collider: How did you originally get involved with The Vampire Diaries? Was Elijah always the character that you had auditioned for?

DANIEL GILLIES: Yes, it was. I went in at the end of 2010. I thought I had done a pretty good job, but there were a lot of kids who had auditioned for it. They said, “You did a good job,” but I didn’t hear anything for awhile. I think it was four to six weeks after I had auditioned that I got the role. They said that they liked my audition, but that they were going to look for an older actor, which actually made sense to me for the role. I thought it should be played by an older actor. Elijah seems older.

Jen | Categories: Ian Somerhalder, Interviews, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on Ian Somerhalder Interview THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

An Interview With… A VAMPIRE 🙂

Returning for its third season on September 15th, The Vampire Diaries is the story of two vampire brothers, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who are both obsessed with Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). As Stefan sinks deeper into the dark side, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt of their growing bond, even as they work together to bring Stefan back from the edge that Original vampire Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has brought him to.

During a recent interview, actor Ian Somerhalder talked about how his character Damon Salvatore will change this season, the push-pull between what Damon truly is and who everyone else wants him to be, the effects of the Season 2 finale kiss between Damon and Elena, Damon’s relationships with Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), and making sure that his character maintains his edge, even if he does end up an anti-hero.
