From hanging with TV vampires (and sometimes being one) to working a high-tousled ponytail better than anyone we’ve ever seen, Nina Dobrev has long been one of our must-watch celebs. Whenever we spot a celebrity who loves to rock a bold lip or every single braid under the sun on the red carpet, we keep an eye on her. Dobrev knows how to do just that, and if her Instagram-documented road trip is any indication, she’s full of fun and adventure. We caught up with Dobrev, who just ended her 6-season run as Elena on the CW mega-hit ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ and finally got to ask her ALL of our most burning beauty (and life) questions. Dobrev gave us the scoop on her favorite eye makeup looks, her actual no makeup approach to summer beauty, and everything in between. Take a look below!

If you follow actress Nina Dobrev on Instagram, you know that she’s traveled everywhere from Monaco to Bali to Paris this summer for a mix of work and pleasure. Everyday Health caught up with the jet setting star of “The Vampire Diaries” during a recent press event in New York City for Air Optix Colors, a new line of colored contact lenses she’s partnered with. At the event, Dobrev spilled her best tips for staying healthy while traveling, favorite workout options, and more.
1. How she survives a long flight: “I’ll figure out the time of the destination I’m going to and I’ll sleep at their nighttime or stay up if it’s their daytime to try and beat the jet lag,” Dobrev says. “Also, the dry air on a plane is horrible, so I immediately wash my makeup off [after a flight] and I apply a moisturizing face mask as many times as I can [during a flight] if I’m not asleep.”

Jen | Categories: Claire Holt, Interviews | Comments Off on The Allure Deskside: Vampire Diaries’ Claire Holt
One of the best parts about my job as Allure’s entertainment director is that I get to meet lots of talented people just before they get so famous that the paparazzi will be stalking them the next time they visit us at 4 Times Square. Last week, Aussie beauty Claire Holt, who stars as Rebekah Mikaelson, one of the original vampires on The Vampire Diaries, stopped by my office. She was in town for the official announcement that next fall, she’ll get her own spin-off, called The Originals. After chatting about this exciting new chapter for Holt—while marveling at her flawless skin—I had to pry. Here’s what I learned about her beauty secrets:
Beauty motto: “Less is more.”
Beauty icon: “I really love Karlie Kloss. I think her face is so beautiful and stunning and fresh. I love her hair short.”
Skin-care must haves: “I use Cetaphil to wash my face. It’s really classic and clean. Then I like to use oils, like coconut oil, on my face. And I use a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning.”
Favorite products: “Right now I’m using Almay Grow N Glow and a
M.A.C. brow pencil in Fling.”
Go-to hairstyle tip: “I’m wearing this little piece in my bun now—it’s called a donut. It really fills out your hair and is easy to use.”
Worst beauty disaster: “The worst one is when you have powder on and it picks up in the flash of the camera. So there have been times I’ve had photos taken of me and my undereyes are bright white. And I think some of my style choices in my early years weren’t that great. But you live and you learn.”
Guilty pleasure: “Chocolate is really a problem. I’m trying to be healthy right now, so I’ll eat carob chips, which are kind of like chocolate. But sometimes I’ll have a midnight snack, and I’ll wake up and I’ll find chocolate in my bed.”

Jen | Categories: Interviews, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on A style session with The Vampire Diaries’ Torrey DeVitto
Young Hollywood starlet
Having appeared on some of our most beloved and juicy TV shows like One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars and most recently as Dr. Meredith Fell on The Vampire Diaries, DeVitto is a true entertainment powerhouse who commands the silver screen in acting and with her striking style on and off the camera. (Especially when she’s seen hanging out with her husband and heartthrob, Paul Wesley).
Read on for what DeVitto has to say about her beauty routine, favorite products and who she is dying to work with in Hollywood.
SheKnows: What is a typical beauty day on set getting ready for The Vampire Diaries? Walk us through the hair/makeup routine as you get camera-ready.
DeVitto: First and most importantly, you have to show up with a cleaned and moisturized face. It’s a lot of makeup all day, so it’s even more important to take care of your skin and show up with a clean base. Once I am on set, both hair and makeup spend anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour each trying their best to make all of us look as awake, fresh and beautiful as possible! On days with no sleep, their job can become quite difficult!
