EXCLUSIVE: Just over a week before the re-imagined Flatliners comes out, Nina Dobrev is keeping her days full with two new projects.

Currently filming Roger Avary’s Lucky Day in Toronto, The Vampire Diaries alum also is joining Ken Marino’s sophomore feature directing effort Dog Days, I’ve learned. Dobrev will play Good Day Seattle host Elizabeth in the canine-connected ensemble comedy from the West Hot American Summer vet. The character relies on her pet through life and work stresses, including the unwelcomed advances of an on-air colleague. Penned by Elissa Matsueda and Erica Oyama, and produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Jennifer Monore, and Scott Holroyd, Dog Days is set to start shooting this year in Los Angeles.

Before then, Dobrev will finish up her role in the first film directed by Pulp Fiction co-scribe Avary in over a decade. Co-starring with Reservoir Dogs alum Michael Madsen and Luke Bracey in the ex-con thriller, Dobrev portrays Chloe in the Killing Zoe helmer’s latest effort. The character is the French-speaking artist wife of the ex-con and mother of his daughter at the center of Lucky Day, which all takes place over a single unpleasant day.

Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody are producing Lucky Day.

Add to the September 29-debuting Flatliners with Ellen Page and Kiefer Sutherland, Dobrev is in Departure, starring Maisie Williams and Asa Butterfield co-starring, and comedy Crash Pad with Christina Applegate and Domhnall Gleeson.

Dobrev is represented by CAA and Lighthouse Management.

Nina Dobrev Gets Real About Her Breakouts: ‘I Walk Out of the House with Zit Cream’

Author: Jen | | Comments Off on Nina Dobrev Gets Real About Her Breakouts: ‘I Walk Out of the House with Zit Cream’

Nina Dobrev isn’t afraid to show the world her barefaced skin.

The actress, who was one of five stars that went makeup-free in PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful issue this year — embraces all her imperfections, and wants the girls and young women that look up to her to do the same.

“Young girls see this image and think that’s what they should be and that’s how they should wake up,” Dobrev told Ocean Drive magazine in her cover interview for its September issue. “That was one of the main reasons I wanted to be a part of that issue [People’s Most Beautiful] and especially proud to represent the section [with no makeup on].”

Nina Dobrev was set on fire for Flatliners, for real

Author: Jen | August 17, 2017 | Comments Off on Nina Dobrev was set on fire for Flatliners, for real

Filed Under: | Nina Dobrev, Non TVD Projects

It’s no secret that looks can be deceiving, something The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev has first-hand knowledge of. This is especially true of her upcoming film, Flatliners, a remake of Joel Schumacher’s cult classic in which Dobrev’s character is put through the ringer, to say the least — from burns, to resuscitation efforts, you name it. During a recent interview with EW, Dobrev proved there’s more to playing an unconscious person than meets the eye.

First though, the most striking (literally) of her stunts is one Dobrev admits might not even make it into the final cut: a burn that engulfs half of her character’s body. Though technology has made obvious leaps and bounds in the nearly three decades since the original Flatliners, these flames weren’t just courtesy of CGI.

Nina Dobrev Explains Why She Left The Vampire Diaries and Why She’s Really “Picky” About Roles Today

Author: Jen | | Comments Off on Nina Dobrev Explains Why She Left The Vampire Diaries and Why She’s Really “Picky” About Roles Today

Filed Under: | interview, Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries

According to Nina Dobrev, leaving The Vampire Diaries was all a part of her plan.

The 28-year-old star, who emigrated to Toronto from Bulgaria when she was merely a toddler, rose to national fame when she landed the role of Elena Gilbert in CW’s hit series in 2009. Fast forward six years later, the actress surprised fans when she did not sign on for season 7 and the series lost a longtime and beloved main character. Reflecting on that time today, Dobrev maintains that the exit was her choice.
