Feb 14th: The Vampire Diaries First Look: A New Girl For Damon?

Jen | Categories: Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on The Vampire Diaries First Look: A New Girl For Damon?

Proving that you can’t keep a good bad girl down, Smallville alum Cassidy Freeman returns to The CW to bedevil another crazy-hot cast. “I guess they’re trying to tell me something,” says the former Tess Mercer with a laugh. “When I was cast on Smallville, I was like, ‘Really? Evil angry girl?’ Because I can’t stop laughing in real life.”

In the March 15 Vampire Diaries episode — a flashback to 1912 — Freeman plays Sage, a bloodsucker with ties to the Originals, as well as Ian Somerhalder’s Damon. “She [is] really aware of what being a vampire is and owns it,” says Freeman, who says it “has been a dream to play a vampire” and that she was “jumping for joy” when she got the part. Sage will also resurface in modern-day Mystic Falls with a murky agenda. “She comes back for good reasons, but she is [out] for herself.”

Feb 10th: The Vampire Diaries’: Nina Dobrev on her ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ style — VIDEO

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Nina Dobrev, Season 3, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series, Videos | 1 Comment

I literally gasped the first time I saw a picture of Nina Dobrev rocking her black vintage gown in last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries. (I’ll be honest, usually such reactions are reserved for the male cast members… and it has nothing to do with their style.)

Costume designer Leigh Leverett really outdid herself across the board on this episode — from Stefan and Damon’s tuxedos (Armani and John Varvatos, respectively) to Caroline’s cobalt Alberto Makali. But, as you might have guessed, looking this good is hard work.

Don’t believe me? Take Dobrev’s word for it as she talks about it below in a PopWatch Style video after the jump.

Feb 10th: Hey ‘Vampire Diaries’ Fans, Stop Hating On Elena

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Nina Dobrev, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on Hey ‘Vampire Diaries’ Fans, Stop Hating On Elena

This is basically my version of Chris Crocker’s ‘Leave Britney Alone’ video. Except it’s about Elena. And it’s not a video.

I’ve got a bone to pick with you, Vampire Diaries fans. OK, some of you. I’m used to seeing strong, often crazy, responses following a particularly intense episode — but the comments I saw from “fans” after the Feb. 9 episode, “Dangerous Liaisons,” were borderline disturbing. A quick search in the comments section of my recap yielded more than 25 results for the word “hate,” all of which were directed at Elena (Nina Dobrev) for what she did to Damon (Ian Somerhalder.) I think it’s time we all take a massive chill pill.

I don’t care which ship you sail on; you need to take a step back and look at Elena’s situation objectively. Elena may have strong feelings for Damon, but she and Stefan (Paul Wesley) dated for a long time — like two seasons. She can’t totally abandon ship (pun not intended, I swear) until she knows there’s no chance of getting back what they once had. Meanwhile, she and Damon have never been in an actual relationship. In fact, they’ve only kissed. Twice.

Feb 10th: EW Spoiler Room has Lots of juicy info

Jen | Categories: Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, Videos | Comments Off on EW Spoiler Room has Lots of juicy info

Hi, I just read and watched your interview with Katerina Graham that you posted on Feb. 3. I’m so happy we’re finally meeting Bonnie’s mother. Do you have any idea if there’s a chance we might meet Bonnie’s father while her mom’s around? And do you know what Esther being back means for Bonnie (and Abby)? Thanks for any spoiler-tipped light you can shed! — Alta
Thanks for watching that. Glad you enjoyed it. As for your question, I don’t know of plans to introduce Bonnie’s dad, but I’ll toss the rest of your question straight to EP Julie Plec, who, by now, is pretty much a teaser pro from the looks of it. “Bonnie and Abby are going to find themselves enlisted by Esther, herself a witch and one of the servants of nature, ………

My biggest sadness at the moment is that Tyler went away before we could see him look all spiffy in the ball episode. When’s he coming back!? — Viv
Not till spring, but when he does return, expect fireworks. “Tyler is still going to be away for a little while, doing his journey of self-discovery,” says Plec………

I found it interesting how in your Spoiler Room Video Edition Nina talked about how much guilt Elena feels. Any chance she’s going to go easier on herself any time soon. You can’t blame the girl for wanting a little bit of both brothers! Also, love the videos. Thank you. — Kristen
No. In fact, Plec says, Elena might have some new emotional weight to carry around. “Next week definitely is very much rooted in the foundation of this compassion that Elena has for Elijah, and her concern that maybe in signing his death sentence that she’s made a mistake,” she says. (And, to all others, if you haven’t seen SR:VE, I’ve embedded it for you below!)

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Season 3, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on Exclusive interview with TVD director Chris Grismer shares stories from the vampire diaries set

The highly anticipated Mystic Falls ball turned out to be a fairy tale dream come true (of the dark and sexy Brothers Grimm variety). From the lavish setting to the lush gowns and crisply pressed tuxes, every detail — even the small ones — helped accentuate an aura of glitz, splendor, and suspense. So what exactly goes into creating a Vampire Diaries episode of this magnitude? Well, you’re in luck, because got the scoop from talented TVD director Chris Grismer (who’s also the mastermind behind some seriously incredible episodes from some of our other favorite shows including Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Circle, and The Nine Lives of Chloe King)! Find out what it takes to create a riveting, unforgettable Vampire Diaries episode in our exclusive interview with Chris below!

TVD: Can you tell us a little more about “Dangerous Liaisons” and the Mystic Falls ball? How would you describe your directing style for this specific story line?
Chris: We delved into the private world of the Original Family so we approached with an eye for all things grand and epic. We wanted to pull back the veil a bit and give the audience a glimpse into the dark nobility and inner workings of the Originals.

Feb 10th: ‘Vampire Diaries’ – After The Ball

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Julie Plec, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’ – After The Ball

While Vampire Diaries is known for its shocking twists and neck-snapping turns, one of the show’s strongest qualities is its ability to fill entire episodes with exposition and set-up without making the hour feel like a boring ramp up to the exciting acting.

For all intents and purposes, Dangerous Liaisons was an expository episode that laid the groundwork for everything that’s to come in next week’s All My Children.

But thanks to beautiful balls, brother-on-brother violence, a seriously deadly cocktail and a closing moment that proved True Blood doesn’t have the market cornered on hot vampire sex, the hour was as exhilarating an endeavor as the 13 that have come before.

In order to find out what’s next — and which moments were of particular importance — EP Julie Plec broke it down for a handful of reporters earlier this week. Here are the choicest quotes!
