Feb 16th: What’s coming up on Vampire Diaries? Find out straight from Julie Plec!

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Julie Plec, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on What’s coming up on Vampire Diaries? Find out straight from Julie Plec!

Last Thursday on The Vampire Diaries, we finally met the Original Witch and mother to the Originals, Esther. She decided that she needed to correct the mistake she made so many years ago and kill her vampire children with Elena’s help. Tonight, on “All My Children” we find out if her spell to kill them works.

I had the opportunity to interview executive producer, Julie Plec, about tonight’s episode and what’s coming up for the rest of the season in Mystic Falls. She talked about whether all the Originals drank during the toast (they did!), Stefan’s returning humanity, Elena and the Salvatore brothers, Caroline and her love life, the eventual return of both Jeremy and Tyler, and a tease about the major story arcs for the remainder of the season.

Carla: Are the Originals going play a major role in an upcoming arc?

Julie: I can’t really speak much past [tonight’s episode] because we have advertised that in [“All My Children”] Ester tries to annihilate her entire family, so I’m not going to say much beyond that.

Feb 16th: Vampire Diaries Video: Kat Graham Says Bonnie Will Go Against Elena and Stand by It

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Katerina Graham, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series, Videos | 1 Comment

“[They’ve] made Bonnie a character that people either worship or go against because she goes against the vampires,” Graham told TVGuide.com on the Atlanta set. “All you can really ask for is that you give people those reactions, evoke something. I don’t care what it is as long as you feel it.”

On Thursday’s episode, Bonnie is in a particularly sticky situation. She and her estranged mother Abby (Persia White) are an important piece of the puzzle for Esther to carry out her plan to eviscerate the Original siblings. Bonnie is further torn when her best friend Elena (Nina Dobrev) has reservations about killing Elijah (Daniel Gillies).

“Bonnie’s not a vengeful person, there’s always a purpose behind [her actions],” Graham says. “Whether she’s wrong or right by audience standards she firmly stands by it. If she goes against Elena, or even Elena going against Bonnie, it would be because they both have this conviction that what they’re doing is right. That’s important to remember watching the upcoming episodes.”

Feb 15th: The Vampire Diaries’ Zach Roerig Talks Mortality, Being a Team Player, and Matt’s Current Living Situation

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series, Zach Roerig | Comments Off on The Vampire Diaries’ Zach Roerig Talks Mortality, Being a Team Player, and Matt’s Current Living Situation

It can’t be easy playing a good guy on a show full of badasses, but for three seasons now, Zach Roerig’s been holding things down as Matt Donovan, Mystic Falls’ most decent and emotionally conflicted human being. A joke I fall back on in my recaps is that Matt is like the human version of comfort food: He’s just a solid guy who tends to be there in each character’s time of need. And, you know, he occasionally looks like creamy, golden mashed potatoes. (Quick question: Is this racist?) Anyway, I kid because I love: Matt’s actually a crucial element in Mystic Falls, and this week Roerig nicely took a few minutes to provide some insight on the subject.

Considering this show’s mortality rate so far, is any part of you surprised that Matt hasn’t been killed off yet?

Yeah, I mean, that that was definitely a fear for a while. Am I gonna get killed off? But then I just sort of started seeing the importance of my character and being okay with that and humbling myself, because I think Matt is kind of like a big piece of humble pie for Mystic Falls. He just kind of brings a realness, you know, in the viewer’s eyes. Like you’re watching all these crazy things going on that you know in your mind are not real and can’t be possible, then you see a real guy with real problems navigating his way through all of this and doing it with just the purest intentions and best heart.

Feb 15th: Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies on Elijah’s ‘Terrifying’ Fate and ‘Hell to Pay’ With Elena

Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Season 3, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies on Elijah’s ‘Terrifying’ Fate and ‘Hell to Pay’ With Elena

On The Vampire Diaries last week, witchy Esther set in motion a clever scheme to take down her dastardly son, Klaus: She bound all of the Original siblings together with a spell, so that if one of them were to be taken out, they would all die. This sort of mass annihilation would send panic into the heart of any fan of the CW series (airing Thursdays at 8/7c), but Elijah’s portrayer, Daniel Gillies, tells TVLine that he’s “never concerned” about his job security. “At this stage, I’m a veteran of death,” he quips. “I’ve died four time on this show alone.”

Mind you, that doesn’t mean Elijah is just going to lie down and give up. “Obviously, he’s not going to be terribly happy about” the spell, previews Gillies. “They’re now bonded in potential death. It’s going to be pretty terrifying.”

So much so that, if there’s one thing the usually moral vampire knows, it’s that now “[Esther] needs to be taken out,” continues the actor. Easier said than done, with a sorceress that powerful! But the Michaelson brothers – Elijah, Klaus, Kol and Finn – and sis Rebekah might be able to get the upper hand on Mom if they join forces. “When a collective of people know they could potentially die, it makes them powerful,” explains Gillies.

Feb 15th: ‘The Vampire Diaries’: Villainy is like therapy, David Anders says

Jen | Categories: David Anders, Interviews, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on ‘The Vampire Diaries’: Villainy is like therapy, David Anders says

David Anders was a regular on “Alias” and “Heroes.” He played a pivotal figure on “The Vampire Diaries.” He has a role on “Once Upon a Time,” ABC’s new hit.

His specialty? Villainy.

“We all have dark sides within us, and I tap into it on a weekly basis. It’s kind of like therapy,” said Anders, 30, by phone from Los Angeles.

His juicy career lends itself to discussion at MegaCon, the fan convention that runs Friday through Sunday at the Orange County Convention Center. Anders will be there all three days. He also will be on a panel along with Joseph Morgan (Klaus on “The Vampire Diaries”) from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Room 224.

Anders estimated that he done about 10 fan conventions all over the world, the last in Germany. “Part of the cool thing about these conventions is fans get to see you as you. They expect for you to be yourself,” he said.

On “The Vampire Diaries,” Anders played John Gilbert, the biological father of heroine Elena (Nina Dobrev).

“It was something new, although I didn’t know I was going to be Nina’s father when I signed up,” Anders said. “It was a pleasant, weird surprise. It was a fun part.”
