Q. How did the release of your poetry book The Blue Sky Chronicles come about?

A. I met someone and the relationship that I was in before the one I’m in now, I wrote it literally. I kind of documented the mental process of falling in love and it was very interesting and I thought that my fans would get a kick out of it so I decided to release a poetry book.

Q. How is writing poetry similar and different to when you write songs?

A. It’s very different. With songs I feel this, kind of, responsibility and kind of a weight to appease the audience and to make sure people like it because I just want it to get heard, you know what I mean? I want to make it as universal as possible. With poetry I’m a bit more selfish with writing that kind of stuff because it really doesn’t concern me whether it sells or not because I’m not a professional author, I’m just doing it for fun, but I am a professional recording artist so, you know, we feel like this sense of weight in the recording industry because of where it’s at right now and because we need to have the most happening and, you know, kind of eclectic song out there, so, that’s how it’s different for me.

Sara Canning has joined “Hannah’s Law” alongside Greystone Holt, Danny Glover, Kimberly Elise and Billy Zane.

The Vampire Diaries actress Sara Canning and Greystone Holt have been tapped to star in the Hallmark Movie Channel telefilm Hannah’s Law, a Western set to premiere in spring 2012.

Danny Glover, Kimberly Elise, Billy Zane, Ryan Kennedy and John Pyper-Ferguson co-star in the movie, which went into production Monday in Calgary, Alberta.

The movie is set in a frontier town filled with crime and corruption until Hannah (Canning), a strong-willed heroine, and her friends, including Wyatt Earp (Holt, Durham County) and Doc Holliday (Kennedy, Hellcats), take a stand for justice as she tries to track down the McMurphy gang, which brutally murdered her parents and young brother.

Glover (Mandela) is set to play Isom Dart, a father figure to Hannah; Elise (For Colored Girls) is Stagecoach Mary, her best friend; Zane (Titanic) is Lockwood; and Pyper-Ferguson (Caprica) plays Frank McMurphy.

As you know, The Roommate features our lovely Katerina Graham and Nina Dobrev. You see a quick flash of Nina in the trailer for the film. The movie is this weekend’s top runner for box office revenue in Canada.

The college thriller “The Roommate” has moved into the top spot at the box office with a $15.6 million debut during a typically slow Super Bowl weekend in which the NFL championship game preoccupies movie fans.

You can see all Box Office earnings from the weekend and read the whole article here.

I’ve also included the film trailer so you can catch a glimpse of it. Looks like it’s a CW ladies film as we also see girls from Gossip Girl, Hellcats just to name a few other series on the CW.

Kevin Williamson Joins CW’s ‘Secret Circle’, ‘Vampire Diaries’ Companion Show On Hold

EXCLUSIVE: First the bad news: Kevin Williamson’s potentialcompanion series to Vampire Diariesis not happening, at least for now.The Vampire Diaries co-creator Williamson has notified the CW that his busy schedule on Diaries, which he is executive producing with fellow co-creator Julie Plec, has not allowed him to focus on fleshing out and writing the new project, about a group of people who investigate paranormal happenings.

Now the great news. Williamson has come onboard another CW drama project, Secret Circle, which is based on a three-book series from The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith. It centers on a California teen who moves to her mom’s hometown of New Salem and discovers that she is a witch. To complete the reunion, the project hails from Alloy Entertainment and WBTV, the companies behind Diaries. It was first set at the CW in October with Angel alums Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain as executive producers and Andrew Miller as writer/exec producer. Williamson is now working on the script and serving as an executive producer on the project, which, with its auspices, has emerged as a strong contender for a pilot pickup. Just like with the potential Diaries companion, on which there was talk about Plec joining Williamson, while not currently attached to Secret Circle, Plec could come on board in the future.

‘Vampire Diaries’ exclusive: Kevin Williamson talks his potential companion series that’s ‘full of scary, horrible murder and surprises’

Author: Tracey | December 11, 2010 | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’ exclusive: Kevin Williamson talks his potential companion series that’s ‘full of scary, horrible murder and surprises’

Filed Under: | Exclusive, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Non TVD Projects

If you recently heard the potential companion series to The Vampire Diaries exec producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (pictured) are in the early stages of developing described as “The X-Files meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” you may be imagining Alaric (Matt Davis) teaching history at a new high school. “That’s exactly what the show is not,” Williamson tells EW on the latest edition of the TV Insiders podcast, with a laugh. “That was the wrong characterization. I was like, ‘What is Buffy meets The X-Files?’ They’re completely at odds tonally. It’s neither. It’s set on a college campus. There’s a little bit of some paranormal investigation involved, but it’s more about the characters. It’s more about what Julie and I like to do, which is create a world of people. A young girl goes to college, and it turns out there’s a lot more going on.”

That’s all he wants to give away for now. “Warner Bros. doesn’t like us to talk about shows that may never happen,” he says, laughing again. “We don’t know if we’ll get it written in time, or if this will be for this year, next year…. But it’s just something we’re both very passionate about because we’ve got this whole world and this whole sort of mythology about this girl and this journey that she takes. It’s full of scary, horrible murder and surprises, and all the twists and turns that we love to do, but once again it is a story about epic love. That’s what we’re about here at The Vampire Diaries. And that’s sort of why you call it a ‘companion piece,’ is because you will see those similarities in the show. You know, a bunch of fun characters that you can visit every week and watch them go through all these scary, twisty story lines, but it all leads to some greater story about epic and tragic love.”

Sources: Vampire Diaries “Companion” Series Is in the Works

Filed Under: | Kevin Williamson, Non TVD Projects, TV Series

Looks like The Vampire Diaries mastermind Kevin Williamson is getting a whole lot busier—and that is excellent news for you fans.

According to my inside sources, the CW is developing a “companion” series to The Vampire Diaries, and Williamson himself has been tapped as the writer.

Right now this project is in its early development stages, but here’s what I can reveal:

According to insiders, Williamson’s new project is a one-hour drama about a group of researchers who investigate paranomal happenings.

It’s unknown at this time if any of the TVD characters would cross over to the new series, and details are still being decided, however it isn’t likely, as this companion project is currently considered a separate entity. I’m told it’s also unllikely that the new pilot would air as an episode of TVD.

This pilot will be under consideration by the CW for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

All talks are in very preliminary stages, however one insider tells me Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec is also involved.

What does all this add up to? The potential of another highly addictive TV series that’s made of win.

Christmas may have just come early, TVD fans.
