Dec 11th: ‘Vampire Diaries’ exclusive: Kevin Williamson talks his potential companion series that’s ‘full of scary, horrible murder and surprises’

Tracey | Categories: Exclusive, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’ exclusive: Kevin Williamson talks his potential companion series that’s ‘full of scary, horrible murder and surprises’

If you recently heard the potential companion series to The Vampire Diaries exec producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec (pictured) are in the early stages of developing described as “The X-Files meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” you may be imagining Alaric (Matt Davis) teaching history at a new high school. “That’s exactly what the show is not,” Williamson tells EW on the latest edition of the TV Insiders podcast, with a laugh. “That was the wrong characterization. I was like, ‘What is Buffy meets The X-Files?’ They’re completely at odds tonally. It’s neither. It’s set on a college campus. There’s a little bit of some paranormal investigation involved, but it’s more about the characters. It’s more about what Julie and I like to do, which is create a world of people. A young girl goes to college, and it turns out there’s a lot more going on.”

That’s all he wants to give away for now. “Warner Bros. doesn’t like us to talk about shows that may never happen,” he says, laughing again. “We don’t know if we’ll get it written in time, or if this will be for this year, next year…. But it’s just something we’re both very passionate about because we’ve got this whole world and this whole sort of mythology about this girl and this journey that she takes. It’s full of scary, horrible murder and surprises, and all the twists and turns that we love to do, but once again it is a story about epic love. That’s what we’re about here at The Vampire Diaries. And that’s sort of why you call it a ‘companion piece,’ is because you will see those similarities in the show. You know, a bunch of fun characters that you can visit every week and watch them go through all these scary, twisty story lines, but it all leads to some greater story about epic and tragic love.”

Dec 7th: Sources: Vampire Diaries “Companion” Series Is in the Works

Tracey | Categories: Kevin Williamson, Non TVD Projects, TV Series | Comments Off on Sources: Vampire Diaries “Companion” Series Is in the Works

Looks like The Vampire Diaries mastermind Kevin Williamson is getting a whole lot busier—and that is excellent news for you fans.

According to my inside sources, the CW is developing a “companion” series to The Vampire Diaries, and Williamson himself has been tapped as the writer.

Right now this project is in its early development stages, but here’s what I can reveal:

According to insiders, Williamson’s new project is a one-hour drama about a group of researchers who investigate paranomal happenings.

It’s unknown at this time if any of the TVD characters would cross over to the new series, and details are still being decided, however it isn’t likely, as this companion project is currently considered a separate entity. I’m told it’s also unllikely that the new pilot would air as an episode of TVD.

This pilot will be under consideration by the CW for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

All talks are in very preliminary stages, however one insider tells me Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec is also involved.

What does all this add up to? The potential of another highly addictive TV series that’s made of win.

Christmas may have just come early, TVD fans.

Jul 19th: Candice Accola will guest star on Drop Dead Diva

Natalie | Categories: Candice Accola, News, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on Candice Accola will guest star on Drop Dead Diva

We love ‘Drop Dead Diva.’ The show is the perfect mix of heart, fantasy, love story and legal drama. And music — you can’t forget the music.

With sensationally fun numbers from star Brooke Elliott and the whole cast, as well as surprise duets with Judge Paula Abdul (shown), the show is kicking it up a notch with this week’s episode (Sun., July 18, 9PM ET on Lifetime), having Jane and Grayson defend a fictitious pop duo called Confetti. Played by actresses Candice Accola (‘The Vampire Diaries’) and Mackenize Mauzy (‘The Bold and the Beautiful’), the ladies have both been accused of murder … but that doesn’t mean they won’t be belting out a tune or two.

They’ve got the perfect song, ‘Begin Again,’ to go along with the episode of the same name, and we’ve got the exclusive music video for their big hit single. Fake singers? And a fake music video? Who cares — it’s pretty much just an awesome slideshow of some of the show’s biggest, best and funniest moments so far, and no ‘Diva’ fan can resist that.

The song is also part of the ‘Drop Dead Diva’ soundtrack, which has been on the Top Ten TV Soundtrack list on Amazon, and is also available on iTunes. (It’s also had me singing ‘Would I Lie to You’ along with Elliott and Margaret Cho all week. Not pretty, but that’s what this show does to me.)

Natalie | Categories: HQ, Ian Somerhalder, Non TVD Projects, Screencaptures | Comments Off on Actors: Ian Somerhalder in Lost Series Finale

While I won’t be doing extensive “actors’ projects” sections, I’ve decided to add some caps of the Lost Series Finale to our gallery. The finale is such a monumental part of tv history, and Ian was a part of it (very briefly might I add).

So here are 37 HD captures of Ian in the Lost Series Finale (6.17 & 6.18, THE END).

Now that Paul Wesley is on everyone’s radar thanks to “The Vampire Diaries”, his previous brief outing as an angel in TV’s “Fallen” has of course hit DVD. The pilot for another failed TV show, “Virtuality”, also comes out on disc this week.

I didn’t realize this but looks like Paul was on Smallville as well. He is credited as Paul Wasilewski (his real last name).
