The Vampire Diaries is now but a fond memory in the hearts and minds of its fans, but a small part of the series may be living on in NBC’s upcoming supernatural drama Midnight, Texas. Debuting this July, the series — based on the books by Charlaine Harris, who authored the novels that inspired True Blood — Midnight, Texas tracks the goings-on in a town filled with vampires, witches and spirits who live alongside humans.

One of those people is Olivia Charity, a hitwoman with a shadowy past who’s an integral part of the community. She’ll be played by Arielle Kebbel — the do-gooder Lexi from Vampire Diaries who Kebbel said will still be seen, in a way, in this new show.

EXCLUSIVE: Jacki Weaver, Timothy Simons and Claire Holt have joined the cast of Stephanie Laing’s romantic drama Irreplaceable You. The Walking Dead’s Alanna Masterson, Merritt Weaver (Nurse Jackie), Erin Richards (Gotham) and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) also star in the pic alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michiel Huisman, Christopher Walken and Steve Coogan.

Story focusses on Abbie and Sam, soulmates since the age of 8, who were destined to be together forever until death got in the way. Abbie tries to teach Sam how to live while an unlikely friend tries to teach Abbie how to die.

Former Veep director and exec producer Laing, who is currently an exec producer on HBO’s Vice Principles, directs from a script penned by Bess Wohl. The project, which is currently in production in New York, is produced by Jonathan Tropper (This Is Where I Leave You) and Farah Abushwesha (Don’t Hang Up), the latter of whom first collaborated with Laing by producing some episodes of Laing’s female-driven online comedy network Pypo.

The Exchange is handling international rights on the pic, which was introduced at the Toronto Film Festival last year.

Jacki Weaver has been nominated twice for an Oscar for her roles in Animal Kingdom and Silver Linings Playbook. She was recently cast in Jake Scott’s The Burning Woman alongside Christina Hendricks and Sienna Miller. Simons is no stranger to Laing, having starred in Veep since 2012. He’s recently starred in Gold alongside Matthew McConaughey and Christine with Rebecca Hall.

Aussie actress Holt is best known for starring in CW’s The Vampire Diaries as well as its spin-off The Originals. She’s recently starred in features The Divorce Party and 47 Meters Down and has been cast alongside Frank Grillo for Wolf in the Wild. Masterson is best known for her role as Tara in AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead and has had roles in series Mistresses and feature pic Peach Plum Pear.

Jacki Weaver is repped by ICM, Elevate Entertainment and Felker Toczek Suddleson. Simons is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment and Danis Panaro Nist Talent. Holt is repped by WME and Management 360 while Masterson is repped by TalentWorks, Masterson Management and LB Talent. Merritt Weave is repped by Viking Entertainment and Innovative Artists; Richards by WME, Magnolia Entertainment and Curtis Brown Group; and Henry by CAA and JWS Entertainment.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Matthew Davis To Star, Amanda Warren Co-Stars In ‘Las Reinas’ ABC Pilot

Author: Jen | March 6, 2017 | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’ Matthew Davis To Star, Amanda Warren Co-Stars In ‘Las Reinas’ ABC Pilot

Filed Under: | Casting News, Matt Davis, Non TVD Projects, TV Series

As The Vampire Diaries is nearing its end, co-star Matthew Davis has been set as a lead opposite Daniella Alonso and John Corbett in ABC’s drama pilot Las Reinas. Also cast in the project, from feature writer Dean Georgaris, ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co., is The Leftovers alumna Amanda Warren.

Written by Georgaris and directed by Liz Friedlander, Las Reinas centers on Detective Alex De La Reina (Alonso) who is forced to confront her past when a case compels her to reconnect with her estranged family – the most powerful criminal outfit in Miami. Thrust back into the world she thought she had left behind, Alex must walk the murky line between the law and her family, and question her true destiny as a De La Reina.

Davis will play the good guy cop, Andrew Somerset. A recent transplant to Florida, the intelligent, observant and keenly perceptive Somerset is Sonya’s partner. Sonya may be “street royalty” – but Somerset is not about to let her go it alone (as much as she’d like to).

Warren will play Inspector Kathryn Geller, the tough as nails head of the Organized Crime Task Force. Geller is a big game hunter who’s been trying to get Alex to take down her Grandmother for years.

Georgaris executive produces with Chris Brancato, who serves as showrunner, as well as TMGC’s Mark Gordon and Nicholas Pepper for ABC Studios.

Davis recently wrapped an 8-year-run on the popular CW drama The Vampire Diaries whose series finale airs this Friday. He is repped by Gersh and Brillstein.

Warren just shot back-to-back features for Martin McDonagh and Darren Aronofsky. She also played William’s mother in the most recent Memphis episode of NBC’s This Is Us. Warrnen is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and MJ Management

Nina Dobrev Dates the Workaholics, Instantly Regrets It — Watch Preview

If you thought Nina Dobrev‘s last TV love triangle was messy, just wait until you see what she gets up to with the Workaholics.

The Vampire Diaries star appears in Wednesday’s episode of the Comedy Central series (10/9c) as part of a gloriously accurate parody of a syndicated ’90s dating show, and TVLine has an exclusive first look at all the awkward action to come.

Needless to say, all three guys make spectacularly bad first impressions with Dobrev’s Courtnee: Anders checks her wingspan to see if she’s tall enough to breed Olympic champions; Blake asks if she wants to be the hundredth girl to “ride-o my bone-o”; and Adam seems to be more interested in Skyler, the fourth competitor (and the guys’ old roommate, apparently).

The CW’s Dynasty Reboot Finds Its Female Lead in Vampire Diaries Villain

Author: Jen | January 30, 2017 | Comments Off on The CW’s Dynasty Reboot Finds Its Female Lead in Vampire Diaries Villain

Filed Under: | Casting News, Non TVD Projects, TV Series

The CW’s multicultural Dynasty reboot has found its leading lady — and as you can see from this photo, she already has plenty of practice entering rooms via grandiose staircases!

Nathalie Kelley, currently recurring as evil siren Sybil on The Vampire Diaries, will star in the Dynasty pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her character, Cristal, is a Hispanic woman set to marry WASPy billionaire Blake Carrington, immediately putting her at odds with Blake’s daughter Fallon (still to be cast).

Much like the original Dynasty — which ran from 1981 to 1989 on ABC — The CW’s proposed reboot will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Colbys and the aforementioned Carringtons.

In addition to her work on TVD, Kelley’s small-screen credits include roles on Mistresses, UnREAL and Body of Proof.
