May 1st: Candice Accola: Growing Pains

Jen | Categories: Candice Accola, Interviews, Magazines, Non TVD Projects, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on Candice Accola: Growing Pains

CANDICE ACCOLA may chomp on necks as The Vampire Diaries‘s Caroline Forbes, but offscreen, she admits to loving strawberry banana Greek yogurt with Maché granola. Blood is an acquired taste, after all.

“I was excited to sink my teeth in a pair of fangs.”

If Caroline were a real person, would you wanna be friends with her? If there was anything she taught you at all, what would it be?
Caroline has proved to be a good friend as the seasons have gone on. She doesn’t always do everything right, but she tries. Caroline’s reminded me to let myself off the hook when I put my foot in my mouth. Also that I’m not the only one in the world that goes a little koo koo when she’s hosting a party.

Where were you when you found out that Caroline was going to be a vampire? How did you react to it? Were you surprised?
Caroline becoming a vampire was discussed on and off throughout season one. I was excited to sink my teeth in a pair of fangs.

What would you rather date, a werewolf or a vampire?
In my single years, I’m sure I’ve dated one of each!

You play the role of Chloe in Season 2 of Dating Rules from My Future Self; if there would be one dating advice you could give to all the teens out there, what would it be?
Dating is not always easy. However the root of your relationship should make both people in the relationship happy. There should be more happy moments than sad. And never ever should you or your partner resort to name calling. Even if you’re in a fight, you should still respect each other.

Off the TV, what does Candice like to to do?
Watch TV! I love to cook and have dinners with my friends. I love the park. My friends coordinated a glow-in-the-dark ultimate frisbee game, and everyone came over after for chili and cornbread I made the night before. Good wine, food, friends, and family. That’s my idea of a good time now.

Apr 29th: (SPOILERS)’TVD’ star Daniel Gillies talks Katherine, Showtime acquiring his directorial debut, and his next film

Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Non TVD Projects, Season 4, Spoilers, The Vampire Diaries, TV Series | Comments Off on (SPOILERS)’TVD’ star Daniel Gillies talks Katherine, Showtime acquiring his directorial debut, and his next film

Tonight, we see the backdoor pilot for the Vampire Diaries’ Originals spin-off, a safe bet to make The CW’s fall schedule, which will be announced on May 16. But Daniel Gillies (Elijah), who’s currently filming the second season of CTV’s Saving Hope, has something else to look forward to next month: Last October, he released his feature-length directorial debut, the drama Broken Kingdom, and Kingdom Come, the documentary following the three-year process of getting that independent movie made, online. Unbeknownst to him, reps for one of the documentary’s co-directors, Paiman Kalayeh, then began shopping Kingdom Come — which also features a score of indie filmmakers including Don Cheadle, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Spurlock, and Kevin Smith sharing their own war stories and triumphs — to networks, and got a bite from Showtime. After viewing the documentary, execs asked to see Gillies’ movie as well. And now, both will air on the cable network May 15, back-to-back. Gillies, who wrote and stars in Broken Kingdom as an American writer who forms an unlikely union with a 14-year-old street girl in Colombia, chatted with EW about the films (which you can still stream at Brokenkingdomfilm.com) and the script he’s penning now.

Apr 24th: Daniel Gillies Opens The Doors To His ‘Kingdom’

Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Non TVD Projects, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on Daniel Gillies Opens The Doors To His ‘Kingdom’

This is the biggest week, professionally speaking, in Daniel Gillies life. Not only will The Vampire Diaries air his Originals-focused backdoor pilot on Thursday, but he’s currently filming the second season of his medical drama, Saving Hope, and it was just announced Broken Kingdom, his directorial debut, would premiere this May on Showtime!

Not only did Gillies helm the globe-hopping, emotionally-resonant drama, but he wrote, produced and co-stars along with wife, Rachael Leigh Cook. A massive undertaking that underscores what a passion project this was for the actor.

Although Gillies used a different adjective to describe the endeavor when he rang up ETonline to talk Broken Kingdom, life lessons from behind the lens and The Originals!

ETonline: This is a big week for you, Daniel. Congrats on Showtime acquiring the film!
Daniel Gillies:
Oh man, I’m very blessed. I can’t believe all of this is happening at once — I feel like every day is my birthday. These are lovely complications to have. It’s been a bit of a process getting the release in order, and getting all the paperwork together, so I’ve been sitting on this for a long time. I’m relieved we can share the films with our friends, our supporters and the world.
