Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Non TVD Projects, The Vampire Diaries | Comments Off on Daniel Gillies Opens The Doors To His ‘Kingdom’

This is the biggest week, professionally speaking, in Daniel Gillies life. Not only will The Vampire Diaries air his Originals-focused backdoor pilot on Thursday, but he’s currently filming the second season of his medical drama, Saving Hope, and it was just announced Broken Kingdom, his directorial debut, would premiere this May on Showtime!

Not only did Gillies helm the globe-hopping, emotionally-resonant drama, but he wrote, produced and co-stars along with wife, Rachael Leigh Cook. A massive undertaking that underscores what a passion project this was for the actor.

Although Gillies used a different adjective to describe the endeavor when he rang up ETonline to talk Broken Kingdom, life lessons from behind the lens and The Originals!

ETonline: This is a big week for you, Daniel. Congrats on Showtime acquiring the film!
Daniel Gillies:
Oh man, I’m very blessed. I can’t believe all of this is happening at once — I feel like every day is my birthday. These are lovely complications to have. It’s been a bit of a process getting the release in order, and getting all the paperwork together, so I’ve been sitting on this for a long time. I’m relieved we can share the films with our friends, our supporters and the world.

Mar 16th: Origins of REVELATION By Joseph Morgan

Jen | Categories: Joseph Morgan, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on Origins of REVELATION By Joseph Morgan

very cool director’s statement from Joseph Morgan about his movie “revelation”

The idea that our senses are completely dictated to by our brain, that what we perceive to be real could in fact be utterly fabricated has always been a frightening and a fascinating one for me. With ’REVELATION’ I wanted to explore that idea with the story of a lone survivor, doing what needs to done to make it through the night, even through the evidence around her causes her to question the reality of her world. I wanted to make a short that was laid out like a trailer for a feature film. With a voice-over telling a story in parallel to what we are seeing, the relevance of which only becoming apparent in the last moment when stories intertwine. I wanted to leave things unclear as to whether our protagonist is the victim of a terrible global apocalypse or the perpetrator of a violent crime. I wanted the audience to decide whether they could trust her senses. Whether she was sane.

Mar 1st: ‘Vampire Diaries’ star Joseph Morgan makes directorial debut: ‘Revelation’ is a gripping ride into darkness

Jen | Categories: Joseph Morgan, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on ‘Vampire Diaries’ star Joseph Morgan makes directorial debut: ‘Revelation’ is a gripping ride into darkness

Last month, “The Vampire Diaries” villain Joseph Morgan premiered the 30-second trailer for his gripping new film, “Revelation.” Now Morgan is set to publicly debut the ten-minute short at the Atlanta Film Festival, running from March 15-24 this spring. “Revelation” is Morgan’s directorial debut, starring “TVD” alumna Persia White.

Zap2it got an exclusive first screening of the thriller — and it was quite a white-knuckled ride. White plays a woman navigating a dark, post-apocalyptic world, where the home she once shared with her husband has become a house of horrors, marred by gruesome tragedy. After a savage confrontation, she’s left with no choice but to venture out into the world and face the harsh realities that await her there.

The film’s frenetic pace and accelerating heartbeat will leave you breathless, as will White’s unsparing performance. The audience is privy to every fraught breath she takes on screen as she fights for survival. Meanwhile, the eerie calm of her voiceover provides for an unsettling contrast. Expect an ending that will make you want to watch the whole thing over again, immediately.

Check AtlantaFilmFestival.com for your opportunity to see the film — they’ll be announcing a screening schedule soon. If you’re unable to make it to Atlanta for the showing, don’t fret — there will definitely be other opportunities to see Morgan’s masterpiece in the future.
