Hey “Vampire Diaries” fans, are you ready to see Elena Gilbert like you’ve never seen her before — happy and hysterically laughing? Then you’re in luck, because Nina Dobrev is only weeks away from the premiere of her first big-screen comedy, “Let’s Be Cops.”

“This is the first comedy that I’ve ever done,” Dobrev explained to MTV News during our behind the scenes visit to the film’s Atlanta set. “I play Josie. She’s sort of the only girl in the film. The boys are carrying it for me.”

We doubt it, but much of the action we saw on set did revolve around the boys — specifically stars Jake Johnson (“New Girl”) and Damon Wayans, Jr. (also “New Girl”), as well as Keegan-Michael Key of “Key & Peele” fame, Andy Garcia, and Rob Riggle, who all had Dobrev in stitches during filming.

“It’s been the most fun for me, personally, because I’m usually on ‘Vampire Diaries’ which is a very serious set,” she said. “A lot of people dying all the time, a lot of blood. This whole experience has just been hilarious. I haven’t stopped laughing. I feel like I’ve gotten laugh lines just from being here.”

“Let’s Be Cops” hits theaters on August 13th.

Hard though this is to believe, it’s been more than four years since Noel Clarke last directed a movie. He had a triple whammy of writer-producer credits in 2012 with Fast Girls, Storage 24 and The Knot. Now he’s back behind the camera, parlaying his Storage 24 and Star Trek Into Darkness experience into a low-budget but high-concept science fiction thriller.

Clarke plays the lead role of Ryan, a former soldier who finds himself captive in the back of a van and only able to stay conscious in bursts of precisely 9 minutes and 47 seconds.

Digital Spy sat down with Ian Somerhalder on the film’s London set last summer to discuss the joys of shooting sci-fi on a shoestring, the film’s Memento-like premise, and his work with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Steven R. McQueen: No ‘Arrow’ Nightwing role yet

Author: Jen | June 25, 2014 | Comments Off on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Steven R. McQueen: No ‘Arrow’ Nightwing role yet

In a bit of good news for fans of Jeremy on “The Vampire Diaries” but bad news for those who wanted to see Nightwing on “Arrow,” Steven R. McQueen has admitted that no one has offered him a role on the latter show. Not yet anyway.

Rumors that McQueen, who plays Jeremy Gilbert on “The Vampire Diaries,” was up for the role of the heroic Nightwing on “Arrow” began as early as November 2013. They were pretty much started and spread by McQueen himself on Twitter.

Now, however, McQueen has admitted that it’s all wishful thinking at this point. “If I get a chance to play a superhero, I can’t make any promises that I’m not going to run with it,” the actor tells The Wrap in a recent interview.

Nightwing is a DC Comics character and a later evolution of Batman’s sidekick, Robin. McQueen has made it clear that he is a fan of both that character and of “Arrow” as a whole.

That fandom isn’t quite enough for a role now, but it may just be in the future. Both “Arrow” and “The Vampire Diaries” will return to The CW in the fall of 2014.
