Amazon’s Good Omens has cast Beelzebub and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse — but there’s a Catch… actor involved.

The Catch‘s Mireille Enos and The Originals‘ Yusuf Gatewood will play the Horsemen of War and Famine, respectively, in Amazon’s forthcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel, TVLine has learned.

“A script this clever, this smart, this current is very rare,” Enos said via statement. “How could I turn down playing one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse??? Especially with the incredible
group who’s come together to make it. It’s going to be FUN!”

Oct 12th: Paul Wesley and Pretty Little Liars Showrunner Developing Show about a Hookup App

Jen | Categories: News, Non TVD Projects, Paul Wesley, TV Series | Comments Off on Paul Wesley and Pretty Little Liars Showrunner Developing Show about a Hookup App

Freeform is really leaning into what it knows its audience likes: shows from I. Marlene King, hot young stars and hookup apps.

The network is developing a new drama, Tapped, from Pretty Little Liars showrunner King and The Vampire Diaries vet Paul Wesley, Deadline reports. The series follows three grad students who create a hookup app (yes, it’s called Tapped. How did you guess?) that turns the trio into millionaires almost instantly. However, the app also comes with a few unexpected — and dangerous — consequences which the creators then must try to control.

Tapped is written by Thomas Brandon and is based on the unpublished memoir of Andrew Shaffer, who is known for his humor books How to Survive a Sharknado and Fifty Shades of Earl Grey.

This would be King’s fourth series with Freeform. She is best known for running Pretty Little Liars, which aired its series finale in June She is currently developing a spin-off series, The Perfectionists, as well as running the Bella Thorne drama Famous in Love.

Wesley recently wrapped up an eight-season run on The Vampire Diaries, where he starred as Stefan Salvatore and began his directing and producing career. Earlier this year, Wesley also directed an episode of the Freeform series Shadowhunters.

Jen | Categories: Casting News, News, Nina Dobrev, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on Nina Dobrev Joins Ken Marino’s ‘Dog Days’ Pic, Filming Roger Avary’s ‘Lucky Day’

EXCLUSIVE: Just over a week before the re-imagined Flatliners comes out, Nina Dobrev is keeping her days full with two new projects.

Currently filming Roger Avary’s Lucky Day in Toronto, The Vampire Diaries alum also is joining Ken Marino’s sophomore feature directing effort Dog Days, I’ve learned. Dobrev will play Good Day Seattle host Elizabeth in the canine-connected ensemble comedy from the West Hot American Summer vet. The character relies on her pet through life and work stresses, including the unwelcomed advances of an on-air colleague. Penned by Elissa Matsueda and Erica Oyama, and produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Jennifer Monore, and Scott Holroyd, Dog Days is set to start shooting this year in Los Angeles.

Before then, Dobrev will finish up her role in the first film directed by Pulp Fiction co-scribe Avary in over a decade. Co-starring with Reservoir Dogs alum Michael Madsen and Luke Bracey in the ex-con thriller, Dobrev portrays Chloe in the Killing Zoe helmer’s latest effort. The character is the French-speaking artist wife of the ex-con and mother of his daughter at the center of Lucky Day, which all takes place over a single unpleasant day.

Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody are producing Lucky Day.

Add to the September 29-debuting Flatliners with Ellen Page and Kiefer Sutherland, Dobrev is in Departure, starring Maisie Williams and Asa Butterfield co-starring, and comedy Crash Pad with Christina Applegate and Domhnall Gleeson.

Dobrev is represented by CAA and Lighthouse Management.

Aug 17th: Nina Dobrev was set on fire for Flatliners, for real

Jen | Categories: Nina Dobrev, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on Nina Dobrev was set on fire for Flatliners, for real

It’s no secret that looks can be deceiving, something The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev has first-hand knowledge of. This is especially true of her upcoming film, Flatliners, a remake of Joel Schumacher’s cult classic in which Dobrev’s character is put through the ringer, to say the least — from burns, to resuscitation efforts, you name it. During a recent interview with EW, Dobrev proved there’s more to playing an unconscious person than meets the eye.

First though, the most striking (literally) of her stunts is one Dobrev admits might not even make it into the final cut: a burn that engulfs half of her character’s body. Though technology has made obvious leaps and bounds in the nearly three decades since the original Flatliners, these flames weren’t just courtesy of CGI.

Jen | Categories: directing episode, Julie Plec, News, Non TVD Projects, TV Series | Comments Off on The Vampire Diaries boss to direct an episode of Riverdale

Are the residents of Mystic Falls about to make their way to Riverdale?

Probably not, but Julie Plec, co-creator and executive producer of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, is going to be stopping by to direct an episode of the Archie Comics-based series on The CW.

In a stream of tweets that began after she realized she’d picked up a Teen Choice Award on Sunday night, Plec wrote, “And by the way, congrats to #Riverdale for dominating the TV awards. I’ll be there directing an episode for them this fall. Very psyched.”
