Nina Dobrev isn’t afraid to show the world her barefaced skin.

The actress, who was one of five stars that went makeup-free in PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful issue this year — embraces all her imperfections, and wants the girls and young women that look up to her to do the same.

“Young girls see this image and think that’s what they should be and that’s how they should wake up,” Dobrev told Ocean Drive magazine in her cover interview for its September issue. “That was one of the main reasons I wanted to be a part of that issue [People’s Most Beautiful] and especially proud to represent the section [with no makeup on].”

Feb 28th: Rogue Magazine Interviews Daniel Gillies

Jen | Categories: Daniel Gillies, Interviews, Magazines, The Originals | Comments Off on Rogue Magazine Interviews Daniel Gillies

In the past six years alone, Daniel Gillies has been performing in front of a camera for over 150 episodes of television. A tremendous number really, if you consider the fact that The Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals, has 66 currently aired episodes in its three short years of production–with another 13 on the way. Naturally, a solid fraction of these episodes stem from his originating role as debonair vampire Elijah Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries–later carrying forward to his starring role on The Originals– but miraculously, Gillies also managed to muster in the time to star in the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope.

He’s probably still trying to catch up on his sleep.

In this time Gillies has seen a lot of sets, memorized countless lines, and worked with many, many directors. And as the episodes went by, Gillies described feeling a growing frustration with many of the directors he worked with in television.

When Nina Dobrev was a young girl growing up in Toronto, she had a habit of talking to strangers. But don’t worry, she usually got the better of them. “When my mom would eventually meet the person, she’d find that I’d given them a fake name, a fake background, a fake everything,” recalls the 27-year old actress who was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and moved with her family to Toronto when she was two. “I was creating characters from when I was tiny.” Dobrev, makeup-free and dressed in a flowing floral pantsuit, leans back in her chair and smiles at the memory. “I thought it was fun to see how far I could go in convincing someone of something that wasn’t real. I found pleasure in it.”

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Magazines, Phoebe Tonkin | Comments Off on PHOEBE TONKIN : Absolute Motion Cannot Be Determined

Sydney-born actress Phoebe Tonkin is living it up in 2015. This year, she landed on Maxim’s Hot 100 List thanks to her power-balanced performance on CW’s The Originals. Here, in this The Vampire Diaries spinoff, the 26-year-old plays hybrid vampire-werewolf Hayley Marshall-Kenner, mother of the first natural-born hybrid (snarlsome hunk Joseph Morgan plays the series lead Klaus, who is the father). In spite of supernatural appeal, Tonkin takes considerable IRL pleasure in magic-free health and wellness. In 2012, she and her mate Teresa Palmer launched YourZenLife, a lifestyle blog as inspiring as it is delicious: Chocolate Lavender Chia Pudding, Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake, and all things guilt-free and to-die-for can be found interspersed with fashion tips, self improvement, and rampant positivity. We got a chance to pose some questions to the spirited Tonkin.

Jen | Categories: Interviews, Magazines, Nina Dobrev, Non TVD Projects | Comments Off on NINA DOBREV’S NEW CHAPTER

For six years, Nina Dobrev starred as Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries, one the CW’s most successful shows. She won four People’s Choice Awards, six Teen Choice Awards, and even dated her co-star Ian Somerhaulder. But Dobrev, who was born in Bulgaria and still speaks the language fluently, never quite fit into the network’s usual teen queen mold, and when her contract expired at the end of the show’s sixth season, she was ready to move on. Today, The Vampire Diaries will begin its seventh season without its protagonist.

Now 26, Dobrev is being judicious about what she does next. She’s returning to her roots in the indie film industry, first with The Final Girls, a playful spin on cheesy ’80s slasher flicks that won the Audience Award at SXSW and recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, and next with Arrivals. Co-starring Taissa Farmiga, Malin Akerman, Alia Shawkat, and Alexander Ludwig, The Final Girls will open tomorrow. Arrivals, which features Asa Butterfield and Game of Thrones’s Maisie Williams, will begin filming early next year.

Bonnie + Damon = BFFs 4ever!

In a new interview with ‘Life & Style,’ actress Kat Graham — who plays Bonnie on the smash hit The Vampire Diaries — admits it was a blast having her co-star Ian Somerhalder (the one and only Damon Salvatore) direct the cast on a recent episode.

“It was so fun! We work in a very similar way because we have the same acting coach,” she says about the recent experience. “We were already in tune with each other before we got on set.”

In fact, Ian proved to be an incredible teacher.

“It’s interesting because he knows me so well. He can tell if I can do better, so he was pushing me a lot on set to be better,” she tells ‘Life & Style.’ “He just pulled a lot of stuff out of me that a lot of directors who don’t know me as well can’t. It was really exciting to work for him. He was a natural.”

The 25-year-old triple-threat — who’s teamed up with Degree Women — also talked about attending her very first Grammys this upcoming Sunday!

“I’m just really excited to be around other music artists,” said Kat, who’s also launching her new single, ‘1991,’ on March 10.

Watch the beauty discuss her partnership with Degree, what she’s doing to get ready for the big show on Sunday and her favorite actor on the ‘TVD’ set below!
